Student Council
Through monthly meetings run by the elected officers, the student council works together to represent the lower school with the goal of making a difference in the world. Students set agendas, brainstorm ideas, problem solve, and create events and fundraisers throughout the year. These activities offer perfect opportunities for developing character as students work together to engage in the school and wider community, are catalysts for positive change, promote excellence and enrich our international experience. Throughout the school year they also have many opportunities to work closely with the middle and high school student councils.
Student Council Officers
To be elected as a student council officer, interested students prepare a presentation and an election is held. After everyone running for a position has presented, fourth graders vote for each position through a private ballot. Students who ran for an officer position demonstrated many of the IB learner profiles traits. They were risk-takers, thinkers, caring and communicators. This year, the following officers were elected:

CIS International Student Award
For the fourth year in a row, the lower school student council has been awarded the CIS International Student Award, which recognises outstanding students at CIS Member Schools for projects which exemplify internationalism. The International Student Award is presented to an individual student or a group of students in recognition of their contributions to the promotion of global citizenship and the development of international awareness in their communities. Congratulations to the entire lower school for this incredible achievement! They couldn't have done this without the support of students, parents and staff. When we all come together we can make a difference!
