What a great day!
Students submitted an array of projects – some built a model, several designed experiments, a few explored a problem, and a couple explained how things work. All students submitted videos which we made accessible via QR codes. Click here to see the movies. The objective was for students to use their thinking skills and to be innovative and creative with a project, and certainly that was achieved. On the day, all lower school students had a chance to view the contributions and have a go at designing using Straw Builders, Snap Electronics, and Lego. In addition, we had a scientist visit the lower school. She engaged students with experiments, adding a bit of a “magic show” twist to peak their interest before unpacking the science behind what they had observed. Many thanks to our parents who, together with Sue Wakefield, led this initiative and funded the scientist: Mr and Mrs Sherman, Mr and Mrs Meyrick, Mrs Aggarwal, and Mrs Ramanan. Shout out to our PTSA for supplying cupcakes for the event! Slideshows: Scientist Exploration Student Exploration After School Showcase |

We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for all lower and middle school students, encouraging them to perform an experiment, build a project, test a hypothesis, explore a question or simply discover something they didn’t know. The projects must be student driven and can be submitted by an individual, siblings or group of friends. The project should be conducted at home and the students prepare a small table presentation and short video that needs to be submitted before the event. Participants will be contacted with more details on video submission closer to the event. For any further information or clarification, please contact Sue Wakefield on [email protected].
Students are also encouraged to participate in the live event from 3.30pm- 4.30pm on 6th March to share their presentation with the wider ACS Hillingdon community and parents. This event is not a competition so we encourage many students to participate and show their curiosity to innovate.
